BLESSED

I started piano lessons when I was five years old in a tiny music studio located in Temple City, California. Who knew, as I sat in front of that old, beat-up upright piano, that my life was going to change as I was introduced to the amazing world of music. My instructor—a remarkable woman who continued as my musical mentor until I graduated high school—would often say, "music is emotion." This philosophy not only shaped me as a musician, but continues to inspire me as a composer.

It was in 1991, while sitting in a darkened movie theater, where I was captivated by the dynamic world of scoring for film and television. The film was Steven Spielberg's, Hook. The incredible marriage of imagery and music filled my heart. I was...hooked!

I refined my craft at the Biola University Conservatory of Music, where I studied under composers and orchestrators Neil Argo and Mike Watts. Their influence helped shape my approach to storytelling through music.

During my time at Biola, I connected with a passionate group of filmmakers who were producing full-length features and creatively adapting them into serialized web episodes. These projects offered me wonderful opportunities to explore different styles and genres of music, as well as mature my ability to musically navigate through scenes.

In addition to these collaborations, which continue to this day, I have been blessed to have worked on a number other projects that range from film, television, real-estate, corporate, local advertisement, non-profit, and radio.

I believe the way to create movie magic, specifically in regards to music with film, is a combination of four "ingredients:" Imagination, Creativity, Emotion, and Collaboration.

Imagination

Imagination is the spark that brings new worlds and ideas to life. It’s where every great project begins.

Creativity

Creativity is the craft of shaping imaginative ideas into something real, unique, and expressive.

Emotion

Emotion is the heart of the project—what makes it resonate, connect, and stay with people.

Collaboration

Collaboration is the power of working together to elevate ideas, solve problems, and create something great.
